History & Heritage

The English Riviera withholds an enviable reputation as one of the country's leading holiday destinations but the treasures of the Bay are not confined to its beaches, gardens, palm trees and mild climate.

Pop into one of the Tourist Information Centres, where our experienced staff and direct you to the many museums, mansions, castles, National Trust properties and other places of historical and cultural importance.

We also stock a large range of books and guides to the heritage of the area, while people wanting explore the life work of Agatha Christie will find an unrivalled collection of material on sale. We can also put you in touch with blue badge guides, while soon headsets will be available for hire, so you can enjoy a range of pre-recorded walks.

There are plenty of things to do in and around the English Riviera, whether your group is looking for excitement or the opportunity to relax and unwind. Discount tickets are available for all the major attractions in the area, including the Model Village, Kent's Cavern and Bygones.

Pop into one of the Tourist Information Centres and pick up your free book of discount vouchers.

We can also book commission-free theatre tickets for you, and also hold tickets for a variety of other events around the area.


Also, ensure you pick up your free Torquay map, which will guide you directly to all of the attractions in the area and help you ensure you make the most of your break on the English Riviera.

 

Coast and Countryside

Coast and CountrysideOnce you have ambled through beautiful gardens its time to explore Torbay's dramatic coastline or alternatively, just sit back, relax and breathe in the fresh sea air. We sell an excellent English Riviera Walks guide, which will help you explore 16 stunning walks in Torbay and the surrounding area.

No visit to the English Riviera would be complete without an afternoon out at the beautiful Cockington Village and Occombe farm. Both these attractions are run by the Torbay Countryside Trust, who also maintain large sections of the coastal walk paths including the John Musgrove Heritage Trail.

There are many fantastic visitor attractions and historic towns and cities across Devon and Cornwall within easy distance. Our TIC's stock a wide range of brochures and leaflets covering both Devon and Cornwall, while we also sell tickets for many visitor attractions including the Eden Project.

Tickets for day and half day coach excursions are also available and the English Riviera Tourist Board only deals with reputable companies, offering the very best service. We also stock a large range of maps for those wanting to explore the region by car, while train tickets are also available for sale in the Torquay Tourist Information Centre.
