About

At The Commodore we strive to provide you with quality adult only accommodation that will exceed your expectations.  We aim to provide real value for money, excellent service and to give you what you want and expect from modern seaside accommodation in the heart of Paignton.

We offer accommodation on a "Rooms Plus" basis, meaning you get your own private en-suite bedroom, with the added bonus of a shared kitchen and sea view dining room for use during your stay.

Therefore you are free to get up when you want and eat your meals when and wherever you choose.

We have free private off-road parking for guests arriving by car and are a short walk away from the town centre and bus and rail stations. It is a great place to leave the car and explore the English Riviera and South Devon on foot or by using the regular, public transport.  Paignton harbour, Roundham Gardens and Goodrington Sands are easily accessible.

Paignton is brilliant for families and their K9 companions, so we do welcome children and well-behaved dogs

We pride ourselves on delivering quality accommodation that is clean, comfortable and creates a relaxing holiday environment for all guests, so we allow a maximum of 2 dogs per room. There is a charge per dog per day and we reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning or where there is damage to the property. Dog are permitted on Paignton Green, just across the road from The Commodore and Torbay Park, a green space opposite Vue Cinema, which is popular with families and dog walkers.

Our 8 guest bedrooms are named after famous people with a close connection to the area including the Agatha Christie Room, Isaac Singer Room and Francis Drake Room. The rooms are fully equipped to ensure our visitors enjoy the highest levels of comfort and convenience. All rooms have full en-suite bathrooms, complimentary tea & coffee-making facilities, toiletries, Free Wi-Fi, alexa dots, and plenty of electrical sockets for all your gadgets. Ideally situated on Paignton sea front, 4 of our highly-commended rooms at the front of the property and the guest dining/lounge overlook Paignton green, the iconic pleasure pier, harbour and the sandy beach.

The Commodore is within a few minutes level stroll of a host of amenities and attractions.  Paignton has plenty to offer with a wide selection of quality places to choose for breakfast, lunch or your evening meal with affordably priced, freshly-made hot and cold dishes using West Country ingredients and great customer service.

Paignton has been named in the Top 10 Seaside Resorts for Families by Day Out With The Kids, with clean sandy beaches, child and dog-friendly places to eat and delicious locally caught fish and chips being an important factor when choosing a seaside holiday destination. You’ll find all of these things readily available here and much more.

There are many popular pubs and bars in the town centre; in Torbay Road (0.2 miles) and along the seafront, each serving locally produced wines, beers and ciders.  A visit to South Devon isn’t complete without sampling a Devon Cream Tea or Afternoon Tea in a seaside tearoom or countryside cottage cafe.  Test your golfing skills at Pirates Bay Adventure Golf on Paignton Green or put your family’s brain power to the test with a visit to Paignton’s Escape Room, the latest craze to sweep across the country.  Paignton Geopark Play (0.4 miles) is a free children’s outdoor adventure park and part of the English Riviera’s UNESCO Global Geopark, where learning and play is combined.  Vue Cinema (0.2 miles), is a multiplex with massive 4K cinema screens featuring the latest blockbuster films and providing great value all weather entertainment.

The Commodore R&R provides the ideal base from which to explore the English Riviera and the beautiful Devon countryside and with so many attractions and places of interest, you are never short of things to do – in fact many of our guests find they need more than one holiday to fit it all in!

We look forward to welcoming new and returning guests.
