Hotel Dining with Spectacular Sea Views

The Babbacombe Royal Hotel and Carvery is located on the beautiful Babbacombe Downs, only two miles from Torquay harbourside and there are stunning views across Lyme Bay from the hotel’s dining area.  Available every day of the week, there’s a selection of carvery options to choose with a Standard Carvery, Kingsize Carvery, a Small Carvery suitable for the over 65’s and under 12’s, a Meatless Carvery as well as a Carvery Baguette – meat from the carvery in a baguette with roast potatoes and coleslaw.  For families with young children there’s a great deal for under 5’s sharing an adult’s plate.  

Berry Head Hotel, Brixham is set within six beautiful acres of land and perched on the water’s edge with panoramic views across Tor Bay.  Every Sunday the Berry Head Carvery menu offers a popular choice of locally sourced produce with four tasty starters and three cooked meats such as topside of beef, honey glazed gammon or roast pork leg for your main.  You can choose how many courses you would like and the three-course option includes a choice of dessert and coffee. As a relaxing accompaniment to your hotel dining experience, there’s live jazz music playing on the terrace in the summer months and a pianist in the winter.

The Paris Singer Restaurant at Redcliffe Hotel in Paignton is a fine dining area with spectacular sea views from every table and attentive and friendly silver-service waiting staff. The reasonably-priced set menu for Sunday Lunch includes 3 courses and coffee. Main course options may include Westcountry beef, oven roasted pork fillet and roast leg of lamb with all the trimmings. The Redcliffe Hotel’s waterfront location is perfect for a post-lunch walk along the beach.

Cosy Country Pubs with Character

The Drum Inn at Cockington oozes rural charm and rustic character.  Designed by famous architect Edwin Lutyens, The Drum is a picturesque, thatched roofed country pub in the heart of the 16th century Cockington Village. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a roast dinner with pork belly, lamb rump, turkey breast, sirloin of beef and meat-free alternatives on the menu. The Drum Inn is a dog-friendly venue so this is a great place to stop after a walk in the 450-acre grounds of Cockington Country Park.

The Railway Inn, Brixham is a family-owned business serving locally sourced produce and the finest quality ingredients.  There’s a choice of meats for Sunday roast lunch as well as a mixed meat (all 4 meat) option served all day.  The meatless alternatives include a vegan homemade nut roast with mixed nuts, garlic and spices served with vegan gravy and a selection of gluten free dishes. 

Family-Friendly Gastropubs

The Noah’s Ark Bar & Grill in Paignton is under new ownership and has been recently refurbished. This popular family-friendly restaurant and pub, close to Paignton Zoo, is very easy to get to with plenty of onsite parking. They’ve launched an exciting new menu which includes the great value carvery, available from 12pm to 4pm on Sundays, with a choice of four meats, seasonal veg and all the trimmings.  Booking in advance is recommended.

The Willow Tree in Torquay offers an extensive carvery menu, available seven days a week at affordable prices. Enjoy unlimited portions of fresh vegetables, potatoes and sauces with the Traditional Carvery, Large Carvery and Full Works Carvery.  There’s also a Small Carvery for those with less of an appetite.  A family-friendly environment with plenty of onsite parking close to The Willows Retail Park.  

The Prince William in Brixham is a harbourside gastropub and single visit carvery.  Served every night and Sunday lunchtimes you can choose from prime cuts of Devon roast beef, Westcountry pork or turkey along with the freshest vegetables, all the trimmings and range of sauces.  The Prince William is renowned for great food and service and a superb waterfront location, close to the picturesque Brixham harbour.
