About
Man Sands is a wonderfully secluded pebble beach with sand exposed at low tide. There is no parking near the beach, and it can be accessed only on foot either from Sharkham Pint along the coastal path (which has some steep sections) or by walking around 1km from the car park at Woodhuish Lane.
Access to the beach is not recommended for those with mobility problems.
The beach is backed by grassy hills and is flanked by rocky slopes on either side. When the tide is out there are interesting coves and rock pools to explore.
Immediately behind the beach, the sea has been allowed to reclaim a field, to create a brackish lagoon. This is a haven for birds and there are information boards and a bird hide managed by the National Trust. Grass snakes inhabit the area around the lagoon and they can occasionally be spotted swimming in the water.
At one end of the beach, Crabrock Point juts out into the sea and affords some shelter to the beach. There are however possible rip currents on the turning high tide.
Given its rural location there are no facilities at the beach and swimmers should be aware of possible rip currents on the turning high tide.
