Ashwood Grange is a fine Victorian villa with a number of original features preserved, built in 1870 as a gentleman's residence with hospitality in mind.
Your comfort is the priority for resident proprietors Stuart and Clare, who take the greatest pleasure in warmly welcoming new and returning business and holiday visitors to their conveniently situated, licensed bed & breakfast in Torquay, jewel of South Devon's English Riviera.
The spirit of a bygone era with all the comforts of today!
Please note that we are a non-smoking establishment, for the well-being and safety of our guests.
The main lounge is light and spacious, with colour television, a period fireplace, elegant furniture and comfortable seating. The lounge leads onto a balcony where you can enjoy fresh air, sunshine and the view.
The breakfast room, like the adjoining main lounge, looks south over the garden and surrounding areas. With co-ordinated decor and a period fireplace, this is the perfect setting to enjoy your light or hearty English breakfast. Please let us know on booking if you have special dietary needs. We do have one ground floor bedroom if required.
The bedrooms are luxurious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We offer eight rooms with en-suite bathrooms, including four family rooms of which one is located on the ground floor. All bedrooms have full central heating, beverage making facilities, shaver points, hair dryers, alarm clock / radios and colour television.
We have a popular two-room family suite that includes a room with double bed and en-suite bathroom, with an inter-connecting door opening to a room with two single beds and a separate entrance. This arrangement provides privacy when desired and each room has its own television.
With railway and coach stations within walking distance and road routes clearly marked, Ashwood Grange is the perfect base from which to explore the beauty of South Devon and beyond.
There are many beautiful gems to discover like the regatta town of Dartmouth, Brixham fishing port, the tors and wild ponies of Dartmoor National Park, beaches and scenic coves in and near Torquay, and the village and manorof Cockington where you can see craftsmen at work in their studios.
Walkers and nature lovers will find much to do and see along the scenic coast and inland. The Southwest Coast Path passes through Torquay and there are many local walks for you to choose from.
You can pursue your favourite outdoor sports on land or on the water, or keep fit indoors, in and around Torquay. If you have energy left at the end of the day, freshen up and join Torquay's vibrant nightlife!
