About
The Melville is a warm and welcoming guesthouse, highly rated by guests for its great location, clean and comfortable rooms and ample breakfasts. The Melville is just a five-minute level walk to Brixham harbour and close to all amenities.
Please always book direct to guarantee the best possible rates. Booking direct benefits both us and you. Not only do guests booking direct get the lowest rates but we prioritise driveway parking for these guests too, subject to availability. Other free parking options are also available.
The Melville is one of the top-rated B&Bs in Brixham on TripAdvisor. We do all we can to ensure our guests have a wonderful stay.
All rooms in The Melville are ensuite with seating, minifridges, TVs, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, wifi, towels and toiletries, with double, king and superking beds. We also have several spacious suites with separate lounges with a TV in the bedroom and lounge.
The Melville offers a good selection of hot and cold breakfast options, including quality local ingredients, eg. our sausages and bacon are from the local butchers. Vegetarian and gluten-free diets can be catered for with advance notice.
Free parking is available, subject to reservation, so you can leave your car and make the most of the excellent transport options available. The Melville is on a bus route for Paignton and Torquay. There are other transport options including ferries across the bay and to Dartmouth.
While The Melville is just a short level walk to the town, it is a Victorian townhouse built in 1890 and set over three floors, with guest rooms on the first and second floors. This means that The Melville is not suitable for guests who have difficulty climbing stairs.
Brixham is a beautiful town, famous for its fishing industry and historic harbour. There is plenty to offer during the day with wonderful walks along the south west coastal path and to Berry Head, in addition to visits to nearby towns and attractions. In the evening, there is a wonderful range of restaurants and pubs, not just serving fish dishes – although these are amazing with many serving local Brixham produce – but a wide array to suit all tastes.
Our guests come back time-and-time again as they love Brixham and they really enjoy staying at The Melville. We hope you have a wonderful stay in the English Riviera
