About
Pilgrims Rest Cottages offer guests more than the traditional self-catering establishment; not simply, though very importantly, a gorgeous place to stay, but also offering a range of extra services outside the norm that can make your stay even more special. It is this combination of quality and extras that have helped it reach 7 finals in the English Riviera and South Devon tourism awards (2012-2021), winning bronze, silver and even a gold within the ‘Best Self-Catering’ or ‘Most Dog friendly Business’ categories. BOOK DIRECT WITH PILGRIMS REST COTTAGES
The three cottages, ‘Sweet Rose’, ‘Honeysuckle’ and ‘Threshing Barn’ are formed out of restored barns of the Old Manor Farmhouse; dating back centuries and graded by English Heritage of ‘National Importance’. They are in fact unique for the English Riviera and the oldest residency in the bay! Truly where history meets modern day luxuries with some special extras.
‘Sweet Rose’ is our gorgeous, quaint 1-bedroom property, full of character where love has been poured into its restoration to provide a special place for our guests. Full of character including an enviable slipper bath (within the bedroom!) - a massive hit with past guests - super comfy king size bed and relaxing downstairs area with all the amenities guests have wanted; Sweet Rose has been welcoming guests coming away for their annual holiday, maybe a honeymoon or special anniversary or simply a few days all wanting a wonderful, relaxing and cosy place to stay from which they can explore gems in our area of South Devon, the English Riviera, with or without their four legged friend in tow.
‘Honeysuckle’ is our beautiful, 2-bedroom cottage that has been a perfect destination for an English Riviera holiday. Brimming with history yet combined with modern day luxuries, it has historically been ideal for families, couples together or even couples on their own wanting that extra space, especially with four legged friends in tow that includes access to the cottages beautiful, secure, "shared courtyard and old walled orchard garden". Comfortably sleeping upto 4 guests plus infants, on the first floor you find two beautiful double bedrooms with wonderful super king size beds that can separate into twin, beautiful furnishings with oak beams, lovely duvets and sheets; whilst in between the bedrooms you find the stylish bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and basin. Downstairs is situated the stunning open plan lounge, dining and full equipped kitchen. Being restored Honeysuckle is fitted with up to date insulation and therefore is extremely cosy.
‘Threshing Barn’ is our magnificent 4-bedroom barn; brimming with quality, where “cosy, spacious, well-equipped, peaceful, delighted, spot-on or great location” are just some adjectives used by guests; whether couples or smaller parties taking advantage of low season deals or extended families or friends together on their holiday, anniversary or wedding. It has been designed for comfort and flexibility with its 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and huge open plan kitchen/lounge and dining area; comfortably accommodating upto 8 plus infants. At Threshing Barn, you will find two levels of comfort. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms – so rare in 4-bedroom places- accessed via a spiral staircase. One bathroom even has a slipper bath. With two super king size bedrooms, one king size and a lovely bunk room, each bedroom has beautiful furnishings with oak beams, comfortable super king, king or twin beds, lovely duvets and sheets, plus separate bedside lights. Downstairs features a "modern, well equipped" kitchen, shower room, dining area and beautifully furnished lounge. Space and comfort abound where we have aimed to continue the modern yet characterful feel through our furnishings with the lounge featuring 3 double settees with warm colour schemes and wonderful oak beams and pillars.
Whichever cottage you may stay you will also find Smart TVs, access to Netflix, full Wi-Fi connection (super-fast broadband) plus full access to three beautiful, outside areas around the barns; each with their own charm where you can relax if not out and about exploring a lovely area - from the sun trap cobbled courtyard at the entrance, old walled garden formed from an old orchard or a further garden – with oak tables, chairs, sun-loungers and BBQs – all secure for our four legged friend or young travellers.
Bringing the tourist information centre to your cottage – revealing the gems in the area to make your stay further special – from walks, beaches, attractions (man-made and natural), eating in and out – even grid referenced to our local map, broken down into age categories, with guest comments and highlighting if dog friendly.
Found in one of the historical villages of Torquay called Barton, guests find us in a peaceful location, with local shops a stroll away but with easy of access to all they have wanted within 1-10 miles. We know - we came for a holiday, staying up the road and moved so do come and stay for 2023/24.
