Red Sails is a second floor apartment located just around the corner form Brixham’s bustling harbour. With great views out to sea from the living room, the apartment is well laid out and equipped to ensure a relaxing holiday. There is a small balcony area to the front of the apartment where two people can sit and watch the boats go by on a sunny day. Red Sails also benefits from a private parking area and with the close location to the town centre and excellent transport links, you won’t even have to use the car during your stay.

Brixham, aptly named Fishtown, has grown into the biggest fishing port in England. The name Red Sails gets its name from the coating on the trawlers’ sails, a red preservative called ‘barking’, a combination of tallow, tree bark and ochre mixed together and boiled. Furthermore, it was this red canvas preservative that culminated in the sight of tens if not hundreds of sailing trawlers setting sail from Brixham across Torbay to far-off fishing grounds, every one of them sporting distinctive red sails.

Around the harbour and town there are many fantastic restaurants, tea shops and gift shops to browse. Brixham has many activities all year round including a Pirate Festival each year and so much more. The harbour is only a short stroll away where you can take a boat trip to Torquay and Dartmouth or embark on a day’s fishing. The coastal path is easily accessed leading to lovely beaches and coves; the popular Fishcombe Cove is at the top of the road. Brixham forms the third part of Torbay - the others being Torquay and Paignton and the bay is known as the English Riviera due to its unique micro-climate.
