About
Welcome to the Cherwood Guesthouse, a lovely 3 storey town-house in the heart of Paignton. We offer excellent service, with comfortable & stylish accommodation and of course tasty breakfasts, easy access and a short walk to the town centre, seafront and Paignton’s ‘Golden Mile’ district of Torbay Road - the beach & seafront, attractions and eateries are only a 2-3 minute walk away.
Martin and Jo, your hosts, enjoy making our guests stay one to remember. We welcome solo travellers, couples and families with children of any age (we can provide cots when notified at time of booking). We have a selection of books and DVDs that children can borrow during their stay with us.
The Cherwood is easy to find, as it is in a convenient level location, close to the beach and the town centre is a short walk. The Dartmouth Steam Railway is popular with first time and returning visitors, starting at Paignton station there are delightful views as you are transported along the picturesque English Riviera coastline.
Devon’s beautiful bay has an excellent transport network with connections to all parts of the UK, and the regular bus and train services means that you can easily travel around the county. For guests arriving by car or motorbike there is a local car park nearby, within a short walking distance and a parking bay can be reserved through Cherwood Guesthouse. Please ask us for details when you book your accommodation with us.
Why not leave the car behind and explore the English Riviera on foot? The 22 miles of beautiful landscape forms part of the famous South West Coast Path which runs from Babbacombe (4.7 miles) in Torquay, through Paignton, Roundham (0.7 miles), Broadsands (3.3 miles) and Goodrington (2.2 miles) to the neighbouring town of Brixham.
Room Only and Bed and Breakfast options are available. Our breakfast service takes place in our dining room every morning between 7.45am and 9.30am with a full range of hot dishes, cooked to order as well as lighter options. cereal, fruits and yoghurts are available along with tea, coffee and juices. Our comfortable en-suite guest bedrooms are spread across 2 floors. There are 8 rooms to choose from, with single, double, twin, family and superior options.
Situated on Garfield Road, Paignton Green is nearby (0.2 miles) and where a number of family-friendly events and popular festivals take place including English Riviera Air Show, Torbay Carnival, Children’s Week and Paignton Regatta. Paignton is such a fun-filled destination for all ages and is one of the UK’s top seaside resorts. There’s an iconic Victorian pleasure pier, a Geoplay Park for toddlers and young children, Vue multiplex cinema and lively family-run cafes and national chain restaurants.
The English Riviera has 20 fabulous beaches including Paignton Sands, Fairy Cove, Preston Sands, Goodrington Sands, Hollicombe Beach and Broadsands Beach, all within easy reach of Cherwood Guest House.
The unique English Riviera landscape is of significant geological interest and has designated UNESCO Global Geopark status, one of only 7 geoparks in the UK and 140 in the whole world. There are lots of interesting locations for bird, wildlife and nature lovers and photographers. Berry Head National Nature Reserve (6.6 miles) is a gateway site to the Global Geopark with a Napoleonic fort, lighthouse and breath-taking panoramic views across Tor Bay and beyond and a must-see during your stay.
The area has some of the best visitor attractions in the country with Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, Palace Theatre, Splashdown Quaywest on the doorstep. In neighbouring town of Torquay, Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves, Babbacombe Model Village, Torre Abbey Museum and Torquay Museum provide hours of fun and entertainment for all the family.
