Haldon Guest House is a friendly and comfortable bed and breakfast located on Beach Road in Paignton, and as the name suggests we are just a short 3-minute, level walk from Paignton Beach. If you like to stay in a central location, on the level and with great access to all local amenities this is the place for you.  It’s an ideal base to explore the beautiful English Riviera and beyond, whether on foot, by train, bus or car. Conveniently situated in the heart of the popular hotel and guest house district of Paignton, you’ll find everything you would expect (and more!) for a fabulous seaside holiday, right on the doorstep.   

If you’re planning to travel to the English Riviera by bus, coach or train, Paignton Bus Station and Paignton Railway Station are only 5 minutes away. There is some free street parking for vehicles near to the guest house between October and April.  From May to September car parking is limited and 3-day or weekly parking permits are available for an extra cost, giving unlimited access to Torbay Council operated car parks during your stay. Please ask us for further information about this.

We offer a wide selection of options including a cooked full English; salmon and scrambled egg; fresh fruit; a choice of cereals, fruit juice, tea or coffee. We use local produce to give you a true taste of the South West. We have a delightful, south-facing garden for you to take in the mild Mediterranean-style climate, admire the views and watch the world go by.

Haldon Guest House has a range of guest bedrooms including Twin, Double and Single rooms, all well-equipped with towels, tea, coffee (and hot chocolate) making provisions and most have en-suite bathrooms or private facilities. Whether you fancy a break with your partner, a friend or even on your own, Haldon Guest House is the perfect base for a short or longer break at any time of the year. 

Enjoy a refreshing walk along the beach or an evening stroll on the promenade. The English Riviera has 20 stunning beaches, with 10 having received top industry awards including Paignton Sands, a Seaside Award and Good Beach Guide winner. Paignton is one of the UK’s best loved coastal resorts and was named in the list of best seaside towns for families by Days Out With The Kids.

Paignton beach has a Pleasure Pier, crazy golf, donkey rides, pedal boats to hire, endless sand and shallow clear waters, perfect for safe swimming. At nearby Paignton Harbour you can take a mackerel or wreck fishing trip as well as sightseeing excursions across Tor Bay. There’s so much to do you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Paignton town centre has a range of independent and high street shops, amusement arcades and gift shops to pick up some holiday mementos. There are lots of independently run cafés, fish and chip takeaways and well-known national restaurant chains providing a great selection of places to eat. For night time entertainment you’ll find lots of live music venues, friendly bars, pubs and inns with beer gardens dotted along the seafront.

The English Riviera’s 22 miles of stunning coastline and breath-taking landscape forms part of the UNESCO Global Geopark, one of only 7 geoparks in the UK and 140 in the whole world! There’s plenty of outdoor fun to keep the children entertained at the Geoplay Park and Pirates Bay Adventure Golf on Paignton Green (0.2 miles); Splashdown Quaywest, an adventure water park with thrilling rides at Goodrington (2.3 miles) and Paignton Zoo, one of the country’s leading animal conservation parks and top visitor attractions (1.7 miles). Paignton Green and Paignton Esplanade host a number of major annual events each year including English Riviera Air Show, Riviera Classic Car Show, Paignton Festival, Paignton Regatta and Children’s Week as well as touring fun fairs and a travelling circus. For adults Torbay Bowling club and Paignton Cricket club at Queens Park (0.2 mile) is nearby. 

A very popular trip with holiday visitors is a nostalgic ride on a steam train with Dartmouth Steam Railway starting from Paignton station (0.7 miles) and travelling along the English Riviera coast to Kingswear (8.1 miles) and onwards by ferry to Dartmouth (8.8 miles). The neighbouring towns of Torquay (3.5 miles) and Brixham (5.7 miles) that make up the English Riviera can be accessed by following the main coast road (A379 and A3022).
