Metronomy are a world-renowned band based in London, but made famous for their 2011 album named after The English Riviera. Metronomy's lead singer and songwriter, Joseph Mount, grew up in nearby Totnes and the album features sounds from the South Devon coastline, including seagulls, waves and the local radio station.
Mount said in a BBC interview at the time, "I just fantasised that this area was a cutting edge place of music and youth culture".
In 2011 the band released their most successful album to date, The English Riviera. It has been their most commerically successful band to date. The album reached no. 28 in the UK album charts and sold more than 60, 000 copies. The album earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. The album consists of 11 singles, each offering a sleek sound somewhere between N.E.R.D, David Bowie and Pavement.

One of the most listened to songs on their 2011 album, is The Bay. Its seductive sounds were equally matched by the official music video which features the band alongside models galavanting around "The Bay", the shortened term which locals use to describe The English Riviera.
