FRESH LOCALLY CAUGHT SEAFOOD

Look out across the sparkling blue of The Bay and you’re likely to spot a fishing boat or two bobbing along with a trail of seagulls hovering behind. And in the bustling fishing port of Brixham you can watch the boats coming and going, unloading their haul. Whilst much of the freshly caught fish and shellfish continues its journey to the finest restaurants and fishmongers across the country, some stays right here in Torbay to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

There’s a strong ethos amongst our restaurants and cafes to use fresh local produce where possible. The award winning The Elephant restaurant in Torquay even has its own farm in Brixham, where it grows its own essential supplies to guarantee freshness and availability.

CELEBRITY CHEFS

With the abundance of fresh local seafood and other high-quality ingredients, it’s little wonder that the English Riviera and South Devon are a destination of choice for top-class and celebrity chefs. Torquay’s Elephant Restaurant is the base for celeb chef and Michelin-star holder Simon Hulstone. And fishy guru Mitch Tonks has a strong presence on England’s Seafood Coast. Try the catch of the day at his Rockfish Torquay. Watch the boats bringing in tomorrow’s lunch at Rockfish Brixham, which is right on the fish market.

And for the real foodies, be sure to visit during England's Seafood Feast which takes place every autumn. You will be able to immerse yourself some of the best seafood in the world. This isn't a conventional festival with a big marquee - instead, you can enjoy a whole range of locally landed and caught fish and seafood at over 30 eateries across Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. The date for 2024's festival is 27th September - 13th October 2024.
