Hollicombe Beach, sits between Torquay and Paignton. With its distinctive red sand backed by tall cliffs it’s a sunbather’s paradise, and there’s a slipway to the beach giving easy access for people of all abilities. Don’t forget to take a fishing net for the kids, as there are some great rock pools to poke around in at low tide. A bucket and spade are also essential, as the sand here is excellent for making castles. If you’ve forgotten any of those must-have beach accessories, you’ll find everything you need in nearby Preston.

To get to the beach, you’ll need to go through Hollicombe Gardens, but why not have a look around before hitting the surf? Originally an old gas works site, today you’ll find a beautiful green landscape, interesting trees and shrubs, flowerbeds with plenty of grass to relax on.
