There are plenty of activity providers who offer beginners lessons, equipment hire, and guided trips for all.  With sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, wakeboarding, speedboat trips, coasteering and scuba diving all available, you'll find something for everyone here on the English Riviera.

For those who enjoy exploring the horseshoe shaped coastline, you can hire watersports equipment from WeSUP and Reach Outdoors, as they offer kayaks and paddleboards hire and also provide guided tours for the whole family.

For keen scuba divers, the English Riviera's waters are shallow and easy for qualified beginner divers to make their first independent dives in open water. With a treasure trove of marine species, it’s easy to see why scuba diving is popular here. Providers include Dive Torquay based on Meadfoot Beach, Torbay BSAC based at Torquay Harbour and Divers Down on Babbacombe Road.

Jet Set Go! Coastal Adventures offer 2 hour jet ski safaris where you can hire the jet skis and explore the breathtaking coastline around the Bay. For those looking for something a bit different, hire Torquay Watersports’ water-bikes!

For those seeking less strenuous activity, you can just relax with friends and family by hiring a beach hut. These are little havens of calm from which you can simply rest your feet, gather your thoughts and look out across some of the most spectacular views in the country - or just watch your kids build sandcastles. Chalets and cabins can be hired through Torbay Council for seasonal, weekly and daily use. Please note that advance bookings for short lets are for weekly hire only.
