About
THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL
Foraging connects us to the natural world
Following our spectacular coastline, we’ll look at around 8 – 10 different coastal edible plants and seaweeds to use medicinally, in your kitchen dips and slathered on your skin, as well as a few bushcraft tricks! Designed for the unseasoned forager and for complete beginners, this walk will give you the confidence to identify some of Mother Nature’s treasures and to see your walks through a different lens – foraging really is a window into the mysterious and it deepens our sense of place and connection. You’ll realise that instead of just a green backdrop, there are lots of wild edible plants right in front of your very eyes! We’ll also look at a few seaweeds, once part of a Victorian beauty regime, that you can use on your skin.
Take a short hike through spectacular scenery to the shore, finding and nibbling some abundant and succulent coastal plants en route.
A brief introduction to a few seaweeds for the skin (we’ll look at around 4 – 5 seaweeds in total) and learn how to safely and sustainably forage for seaweeds in this dynamic and ever – changing environment.
Stroll through the woodlands and discover the flora that’s all around us, but which we rarely notice!
