The Devon Train of Lights is an illuminated festive spectacle around Christmastime that's guaranteed to wow new and returning visitors of all ages. A truly unique and magical experience for those of all ages, the Train of Lights is a spectacle not to be missed.
Operating on selected dates between 27th November and 30th December, early booking is essential.
Ticket prices start from £21.95 and can be collected from mid November.
Departure times are 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 on selected dates only.
The Train leaves from Queen’s Park Station, Paignton - but get there early, as the station transforms into a magical christmas scene which truely adds to the event. The whole experience lasts for approximately 80 minutes, with mystic and wonder along the way that captures the imagination of young and old.
There is allocated seating in all carriages as well as a dedicated carriage for wheelchair users, with advance booking required.
Run by the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company, the vintage carriages of The Devon Train of Lights are decorated with thousands of sparkling lights, creating a magical atmosphere for train passengers as well as landside spectators watching at Goodrington and Broadsands Beaches. Tickets can be booked here.
Refreshments are available to purchase at The Head of Steam café at Paignton station before embarking as well as from the very convenient onboard trolley service.

The launch of the world’s first steam train of lights in 2018 saw tickets selling out very quickly. South Devon’s newest festive visitor experience dazzled visitors and received top reviews.
The enchanting 40-minute journey takes in the stunning English Riviera coastline travelling towards Churston Station and onwards to the 450-metre tunnel at Greenway, once the holiday home of Agatha Christie, through an enchanted forest with colourful feature displays, illuminated animals and elves, and breath-taking night-time scenery. The heritage steam railway turns around at Kingswear station ready for the return journey, giving passengers the opportunity to alight briefly to take photos of the train and the picturesque historic town of Dartmouth, set on the mouth of the River Dart.
This extraordinary light show with its sparkling 1,000 plus light bulbs provides the ultimate magical Yuletide experience.
