About
Winner of the Travel & Hospitality Awards, Europe 2024 - Guest House of the Year in England: South West
The Somerville has an enviable track record and has won numerous awards. At the time of writing (June 2023) we are 1st in the independent Tripadvisor rankings and hold a current Certificate of Excellence.. The Somerville's central location and boutique rooms means that it is ideal for guests wanting somewhere special to stay.
The Somerville is centrally located near to the harbour and seafront. Graded as Five Star Gold award Guest Accommodation, the Somerville offers boutique hotel style accommodation.
The Somerville has undergone a massive programme of refurbishment in recent years to create a modern, stylish establishment with a classic twist. Beautiful antiques, original artwork and quality soft furnishings combine to offer a real feel of real luxury. Rooms available range from spacious suites and junior suites to deluxe rooms and a standard room. For guests on weekend breaks we have extended breakfast times to allow for a more leisurely start to the day whilst for our weekday visitors we offer a full hour for breakfast. Some of our rooms also benefit from having a room service continental breakfast.
Unusually for a town centre establishment, the Somerville is able to offer free parking to all its guests. This makes it an ideal place to stay for those who wish to leave their car behind and enjoy Torquay on foot or for those who wish to use it as a base from which to explore other parts of Devon.
The Somerville also tries to offer flexible service and so for guests on business we offer late check ins as well as early breakfasts and early check outs. To accommodate these requests fully we ask for prior notice.
Five Star B&B Accommodation
'Boutique' is a massively over-used word these days but we think that we genuinely represent the best accommodation a small 'boutique' bed-and-breakfast establishment can offer.
Whether you'd like a Standard Room, Deluxe Room, or one of our Luxury Suites, we believe we'll provide you with a room that will be right for you.
Our regular check-in time is between 2-6pm, and check-out is 10.30am.
However, we understand circumstances change (not least, traffic)! If you do find you are going to be arriving late please keep us updated. (Early check-ins can also sometimes be possible - contact us and we'll try to get your room ready in time.)
Whenever you're arriving, don't worry about parking - all our rooms have an individual parking space. And we have our own CCTV too.
Included with ALL our accommodation:
- en suite, with walk-in shower;
- luxury toiletries;
- bath robe;
- a king-size bed with a first class mattress with the thickest topper you can buy for additional comfort;
- excellent free wi-fi;
- retro DAB radio / alarm clock;
- smart TVs;
- USB charging points;
- hairdryer, ironing board and iron;
- fan;
- extra blankets;
- Devonia bottled water and a selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate;
- mini-fridge and fresh milk daily;
- and Helen's daily cake!
