Taking your beloved pet with you on holiday can be more enjoyable and affordable than you might think. Why not save on the cost of kennel fees or pet sitters and enjoy some quality time together on the English Riviera.
Many of our local B&B providers offer great value, all year-round pet-friendly accommodation and will go that extra mile to offer a warm welcome to guests and their faithful companions. Here are some suggestions of dog-friendly venues in Brixham:
Raddicombe Lodge
Guests with dogs can sit on the terrace, deck area or garden to enjoy breakfast together during the warmer months. The illuminated garden provides ample lighting for those necessary night- time outdoor doggy visits.
Up to 2 dogs per guest are permitted and there is a charge per dog per night. Dog blankets and beds, emergency food, treats and dog bowls are available on request. They also provide buckets and sponges for washing down after a day of energetic exercise and ‘walkies’ at one of the all-year round, dog-friendly beaches at St Mary’s Bay, Fishcombe Cove and Shoalstone.
Sunnybrook Guest House
The Sunnybrook prides itself on meeting the individual needs of its guests including the furry variety. Friendly dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. There are five rooms including two on the ground floor which have been designed to assist guests with limited mobility or additional access needs. Extras such as small fridges can be organised on request.
The Sunnybrook offers a home from home experience, comfort and convenience with just a short half mile walk to the town centre and the charming harbour. There’s a regular bus service running between Brixham and Torquay for the local attractions and places of interest, with many welcoming visitors with dogs.
Brixham House
Brixham House is conveniently located on the main road heading into Brixham and is on a level position, just 10 minutes away from the town, harbourside and Brixham fish market. If you’re planning to travel down by car, you’ll find plenty of onsite parking at the venue. The owners have their own rescue dog and accept dogs by arrangement.
This is a great base for exploring the 22 miles of coastline that forms part of the South West Coast Path. We recommend you keep your dog insight at all times, use a lead and ensure you have plenty of drinking water for your four-legged friend. Ensuring that your pet has a name tag, collar and is micro-chipped will keep them safe during your visit and provide that extra piece of mind.
Sampford Guest House
This delightful guest house is a Grade II listed, 18th century fisherman’s house with an adjoining one bedroomed holiday cottage, suitable for visitors with pets. It is idyllically set on the harbourside with great sea views and will set the dog’s tail wagging with approval. The quaint ‘olde worlde’ style cottage combines the advantages of having a larger self-contained space and separate entrance with a Sampford breakfast included. This is a great base to access some of the area’s finest visitor attractions including the Napoleonic fort and Berry Head Nature Reserve, a gateway site to the English Riviera’s designated UNESCO Global Geopark which welcomes responsible dog walkers.
