  1. Explore Dartmoor National Park
Dartmoor National Park is just an hour’s drive from the English Riviera with the new South Devon Highway making day trips easy. Dartmoor is a stunningly beautiful ancient landscape with deep wooded valleys, fast flowing rivers, rolling hills, towering rock formations (called tors) and rugged landscapes.
  2. Explore Dartmouth
Picturesque Dartmouth is very much a ‘yachtie town’ where you’ll see all kinds of craft on the beautiful river. Stroll along the Embankment of this historic town with the distinctive Britannia Royal Naval College set proud on the hillside and you’ll lose count of the yachts, ferries, kayaks, motorboats, dinghies, paddleboards and many more waterborne craft.
  3. Explore Dawlish & Dawlish Warren
Head for the National Nature Reserve at Dawlish Warren with its stunningly beautiful 1.5-mile long sand spit across the mouth of the Exe Estuary and visitor centre. A popular wildlife haven, it is noted for wildfowl and wading birds with thousands of birds coming to feed or to spend the winter here. There are over 600 different plants, many of which are rare species.
  4. Explore Exeter
Exeter is a cosmopolitan city with an ancient history, located on the River Exe. A visit here makes the perfect day trip when you’re staying on Devon’s English Riviera with the new South Devon Highway reducing the travel time to just 40 minutes. You’ll love beautiful Cathedral Green and the lively Quayside.
  5. Explore Kingsbridge
Sitting on its own estuary, Kingsbridge is a picturesque market town with a friendly atmosphere in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Not much else sings typical Devon countryside quite like Kingsbridge and the surrounding area.
  6. Explore Newton Abbot
The historic market town of Newton Abbot is close to Devon’s English Riviera and is noted for its horse racing, vibrant local markets and interesting historic landmarks.
  7. Explore Plymouth
Stunning Plymouth has played a legendary role throughout history. Sir Francis Drake famously played bowls here while waiting for the Spanish Armada and the Mayflower set sail for the New World with the Pilgrim Fathers. With one of the very finest deep-water harbours in the country, Devon’s Plymouth is home to the largest naval base in Western Europe.
  8. Explore Salcombe
Salcombe is located on a magnificent estuary with turquoise waters crammed with yachts and boats of all kinds. The atmosphere is buzzing in the summer months and decidedly ‘yachtie.’ There are glorious beaches where you can spend a memorable day just chilling and exploring.
  9. Explore Teignmouth & Shaldon
Easily accessible from Devon’s English Riviera, Teignmouth and Shaldon are delightful coastal towns with plenty of character and are well worth a visit.
  10. Explore Totnes
Totnes is a lovely, historic Saxon town, very close to Devon’s English Riviera. Totnes embraces a bohemian, alternative lifestyle in the most stylish way and even has its own currency, the Totnes Pound (don’t worry, local currency is also accepted). Its attractive, long high street with its distinctive East Gate Arch is packed with funky restaurants, wholefood cafes and eateries plus independent boutiques with every type of fashion on offer.
