Refurbished and under new management since April 2017, The Devon Arms is known for its evening entertainment, such as an open mic night on a Monday and Thursday evening and local live music and bands on a Friday and Saturday.

Our friendly staff are always happy to help you and we ensure that the pub is consistently clean and tidy. Along with our high level of customer service, we source most of the ingredients for our meals locally depending on the season. With more than 40 years of experience, we primarily focus on the community and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our pub. We offer great value for money and all of our food and drink is reasonably priced.

History

Since the demise of 'The Bird in Hand' public house, the Devon Arms can lay claim to being one of the oldest - if not the oldest - pub in Torquay. The Devon Arms is certainly Torquay’s original and oldest liquor selling establishment.

Originally a gin house in the 1800's it was popular with the sailors and harbour workforce - and some say Torquays ladies of ill repute!

Over the years the Devon Arms has been visted by many famous faces, including the singer Ruby Murry (who regularly drank here) and the 60s folk singer, Donovan. During WW2 the American 4th infantry drank in the Devon Arms before leaving to go to Utah beach on D-Day. Torbay’s 1st Mayor W.F.Splatt also drank in here in the late 1800's.
