About
Ahoy art lovers, explorers and pirate enthusiasts! The Cockington Court sculpture trail returns this summer and you're invited.
Inspired by this year's theme of 'pirates and the deep sea', the trail features over 30 different sculptures created by 24 local artists and sculptors. The free sculpture trail is one of Cockington Court's most popular events and has been running annually since 2017.
To take part, collect a free map from inside the Manor House. Then follow the trail as it leads you around the beautiful grounds and buildings of the Cockington Court estate.
Some of this year's sculptures include a crow's nest, skeleton mermaid, pirate ships, treasure chest and pirate figure head. Also, look out for Morgowr the sea serpent as she swims towards our café. Created by Totnes-based artist Malcolm Curley, the sculpture celebrates the legend of Cornwall's very own sea monster. First sighted in 1876, it has been spotted many times since off the coast of Falmouth.
Cockington Court Director, Marissa Wakefield, said: ''Our annual sculpture trail is a fantastic way for people of all ages and to engage with and enjoy art – for free. This year's theme is inspired by Torbay's strong maritime history and past links to the world of piracy. We have some really interesting and fun sculptures for people to discover and we're impressed with the way our artists have embraced all things 'pirate.' Come along and see it for yourselves.''
The Cockington Court Sculpture Trail is open to the public daily, 10:30am – 4:30pm, from 28 July to 3 November 2024.
