About

THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE ENGLISH RIVIERA WALKING FESTIVAL

Foraging connects us to the natural world

This immersive foraging experience takes place in Cockington, which is a gem of a village within Torquay, dating back over 1000 years and set in over 400 acres of woodlands. The tour is suited for anyone who has an interest in foraging and would like to discover more about the plants and flowers that grow in the wild.  Flora will walk guests through a variety of habitats to familiarise yourself with where each plant likes to grow! This easy – paced ramble will deepen your connection to nature and teach you how to safely and sustainably forage, all the while discovering nature’s hidden treasures right in front of you.

Explore the key plant characteristics

Uncover the cultural significance and bizarre folklore of each plant, delving into their historical uses in cooking and medicine.

Learn some practical tips about the preparation, preservation and cooking of foraged plants, making sure you get the most out of your finds.

Did you know?
During this walk you will visit land that is cared for by Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust, a dedicated conservation charity that cares for nearly 80% of all the English Riviera’s breath-taking green spaces.  The Trust works tirelessly to protect and enhance these special places for both locals and visitors to enjoy.  Through conservation projects, wildlife protection, and sustainable land management, the charity ensures that Torbay’s natural beauty remains unspoiled for future generations.
