We've got no shortage of seriously good restaurants on the English Riviera. There's something for every pocket and preference, from good old traditional British fish and chips to exceptional fine dining. But don’t just take our word for it. Try one of the many restaurants across Torbay that have been distinguished with prestigious Devon and South West awards and you can be sure to find a delicious menu and excellent service when you dine out.

One of Les Routiers’ restaurants of the year, The Elephant on Torquay’s harbourside is run by chef Simon Hulstone. The first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a celebrated Michelin star, you can choose from two different dining experiences under one roof. The Elephant Brasserie provides a more relaxed atmosphere, while the renowned Room in The Elephant boasts one of the best fine dining experiences in the Westcountry.

The Old Vienna and Orange Tree restaurants in Torquay are also award-winning restaurants. Winner of several Taste of the West and Food Drink Devon awards, these stylish restaurants use fresh, seasonal local food to create imaginative traditional dishes.

For some of the freshest fish around and a cosy, family-run atmosphere, make for Torquay's AA Rosette awarded Number 7 Fish Bistro. They pride themselves on friendly customer service and buy only the freshest seafood from local boats.

Across the bay in Brixham you’ll find the Quayside Restaurant, another AA Rosette award winner, serving some of the finest local produce. And the restaurant at the Cary Arms in Babbacombe is another award-winning destination for anyone serious about good food. Open to residents and non-residents at the hotel, the kitchen team combine the best local produce with a simple cooking style. The result? Gastro food that has scooped many an award including Taste of the West Gold, Enjoy England Breakfast Award.

Fish and Chips with a difference

The abundance of delicious, fresh, local fish landed locally at Brixham Fish Market means even the traditional seaside favourite of fish and chips becomes a rather special seafood experience here on the English Riviera. Top seafood chefs like Mitch Tonks have been lured by the quality of ingredients on offer in Torbay and can sample his delicious take on traditional fish and chips at the Rockfish Fish Restaurants in Brixham and Torquay.

Or head to Hanbury's, a traditional fish and chips restaurant in Babbacombe. For the classic fish and chips experience try their flaky, delicious cod and perfectly crisp, light chips, either in the restaurant, or from paper: find a spectacular sea view bench on the Downs and enjoy!
