About
A well-known, family friendly pub that serves quality food along with luxurious local real ales. Situated at the bottom of Torquay town, it is a thriving environment for locals and holiday makers alike.
Slade and Sons had premises in Abbey Place for many years. Established in 1837, the firm was one of Torquay’s leading grocers. An advert in the Torquay and Tor Directory of 1846 announced to ‘The Nobility, Gentry and Public’ that Stiven’s & Co had appointed ‘Mr JJ Slade as sole agent for their GREEN GINGER WINE… a most delicious, safe and cooling beverage in spring water, superior to any mixture yet introduced’.
OUR CLUBS
Steak Club > Our new simple and signature steaks are served with your choice of accompaniments
Fresh from the grill, Wetherspoon’s steaks are an ever-popular menu choice throughout the week, as well as part of our Tuesday Steak Club offer.
All of our prime beef steaks come from Britain and Ireland, are matured for 21 days, then seasoned by us.
Our simple steak selection offers a choice of either 8oz sirloin or 10oz rump steak◊, served with your choice of jacket potato with Lurpak spreadable, chips or rainbow quinoa side salad.
Curry Club® Curry Club may just be Wetherspoon’s greatest success. From the mild creaminess of the korma to the flavoursome rogan josh, we make sure that there’s a dish to suit all tastes. With careful blends of cumin, coriander, garam masala and cardamom, our curries originate from traditional recipes in East Asia and are designed to give you a taste of the exotic from the comfort of your local Wetherspoon.
Fish Friday® Our freshly battered fish and chips is served with chips and your choice of garden peas or mushy peas, and includes a drink of your choice*. We are the nation’s biggest fish & chip shop, every Friday
Since launching Fish Friday in 2013, we’ve served around 10 million fish-and-chip meals in our pubs across the UK. Soon to celebrate its 155th birthday, fish and chips has long been a classic culinary double act whose popularity never ceases, whether enjoyed as a take-away or as a warm pub meal.
Sunday Brunch Your local Wetherspoon pub is a great place to enjoy Sundays, with friends and family, as a couple or just for some quiet ‘me’ time – with the Sunday papers.
Our menu offers a great range of meals to suit all tastes. However, if Sunday brunch is your idea of the perfect weekend wind-down, then we have the perfect meal deal for you.
The Wetherspoon app allows anyone with an iPhone or Android phone to order food and drinks to their table, without leaving their seat.
Visit the App Store or Google Play™ and download now.
Why use the app?
Going to the bar to order when you’re visiting the pub with children can be tricky. Keep everyone seated at the table and order using your phone – we’ll bring everything to you.
It’s perfect if you’re visiting the pub on your own and don’t want to lose your table – or you don’t want to carry a large round of drinks back through a busy pub on a tray. It’s also a game-changer if you’re not as mobile or you’re sitting a long way away from the bar, in one of our beer gardens or on an upper-floor area.
Let us do the leg-work and bring your order to you.
Meals put us top of little league
Wetherspoon’s pubs serve the healthiest meals for children – it’s official! - The company came first in a league table of 28 well-known outlets across the restaurant, pub and supermarket industry, aimed at highlighting the healthiest meals on offer.
Wetherspoon was ahead of restaurant and pub groups, including Wagamama, McDonald’s, Nando’s, Harvester, Hungry Horse, Leon, Prezzo and Pizza Express.
The Out to Lunch league table was compiled by the Soil Association - It used a team of 80 volunteer families, recruited from across the UK, to visit and review more than 100 establishments from the league table.
