Torbay Council has voted unanimously to support the operation of an English Riviera Business Improvement District (ERBID) and this means that:
- Torbay Council is responsible for overseeing the ballots, levy collection and payment of their ERBID levy to the ERBID Company for all eligible council properties.
- Torbay Council licenses free of charge the official use of the English Riviera brand and URL: www.englishriviera.co.uk
- Torbay Council recognises that the ERBID Company is responsible for operating as the official Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) for Torbay and official partner to VisitEngland/Britain and that the ERBID Company leads on Destination Marketing.
- Torbay Council has committed to a new 5-year Events Partnership with the ERBID Company meaning that investment in developing existing and new events is maximised. For ERBID2 a joint fund of £600k was agreed, including financial support to the new ERBID Walking Festival and England’s Seafood FEAST.
- Torbay Council is responsible for providing a baseline statement giving the details of the baseline services it provides and an operating agreement for the collection, enforcement and payment of the ERBID Levy.
The Chief Executive of the ERBID Company meets with the Leader, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Chief Executive of Torbay Council on a monthly basis to discuss key issues.
The opinion of the ERBID Board and Chief Executive is often sought regarding Tourism developments across the resort with representation requested and including Cabinet Briefings and Overview and Scrutiny, including planning matters.

- Torquay Town Deal Board
- Torbay Climate Emergency Assembly
