Events

Through the ERBID2 consultation you told us that you want the ERBID Company to invest more in the development of the English Riviera year-round Events Programme and particularly events held in the shoulder months. In response the ERBID Company have established a new Events Partnership with Torbay Council and committed a new joint fund upwards of £600k over the period of ERBID2 (2022-2026) with the ERBID Companies contribution of £100k per annum.

We believe the English Riviera is uniquely placed to become the UK’s Premier Resort with a growing number of quality events providing ‘hooks’ on which to attract new visitors to help grow the economic value of our shoulder months, the time of year Levy Payers have told us you want us to focus on promoting.

These key partnership events currently include:

English Riviera Air Show

The English Riviera Airshow is an annual two-day air display show designed to act as a Headline event, as a significant element of the local authority’s strategy to become the Premier Resort in the UK and grow the tourism offer for the benefit of the local economy.
The Agatha Christie Festival

This well-established event coinciding with Agatha Christies birthday takes place every September in Torquay and attracts visitors from all round the world.
English Riviera Walking Festivals

This is a new Event introduced by the ERBID Company following an unprecedented growth in visitor interest in coastal walking as a result of COVID-19.
England's Seafood FEAST

The English Riviera BID Company were successful in securing the Discover England Fund, for an exciting international ‘foodie’ tourism project called England’s Seafood COAST.
Bay of Lights

This is a new Winter Marketing Campaign initiated by the ERBID Company to lengthen the traditional Christmas/New Year visitor period.
