Torbay Development Agency

Torbay Development Agency (TDA) has voted unanimously to support the operation of an English Riviera Business Improvement District (ERBID) and this means that:

The TDA pays their ERBID Levy to the ERBID Company for all eligible properties managed by the TDA.
Working closely with the TDA Economic Development Team and Tourism Lead representing the TDA, the TDA assists on an ongoing basis signposting any financial support the ERBID Company and levy payers are eligible to apply for through grants and subsidies.
Supports the ERBID in joint communications with VisitEngland/Britain and DCMS with particular reference to the Government’s DMO review.
Leads on behalf of Torbay Council in the production of the Destination Management Plans to support the overall Visitor Experience.
Supports the ERBID with the TDA’s pivotal role in the operation of the Great South West Tourism Partnership (see below for further information).
Provides Business Support, Training and Employment Workshops.
Provides a conduit between the three Chambers of Commerce that operate across the resort: Brixham Chamber of Commerce, Paignton Chamber of Commerce, Torquay Chamber of Commerce and Torbay Business Forum. The ERBID Company is a member of all these.
The TDA has been commissioned and led on the publication of the recently adopted new 5-year Destination Management Plan with a focus on improving the overall Visitor Experience.

As the official DMO for Torbay, the ERBID Company is also the official link with Government through our links with Visit England and DCMS, the Government Departments responsible for Tourism, Culture, Media and Sport.
